The city of Pleasant Hill is a vibrant community, rich in educational resources and recreational open space; proudly claiming a thriving, award-winning downtown and business district. Centrally located in Contra Costa County, with Interstate 680 and BART, running north/south offering easy freeway access to Oakland and San Francisco.
Downtown Pleasant Hill is home to the Art, Jazz & Wine Festival held each October. You will also find a seasonal Farmer’s Market from May through November.
Residential housing ranges from well established, quiet family neighborhoods to newer affordable housing in the walkable downtown area that was established in 2000. This redevelopment is in the area around Contra Costa and Monument Boulevards. It may be new, but it feels like home.
There’s lots to do in Pleasant Hill. Keep your kids active with one of the summer camps offered by the Park & Rec department, from Pre-School to Teens, from Lego day camp to Mad Science, unlimited fun is waiting. Newly opened, the Pleasant Hill Community Center is will be the locale for many events including the Wine Women & Shoes annual fundraiser.
The Dolfin Swim Team offers instruction and team competition, with an emphasis on conditioning and self-improvement. Pleasant Hill parks offer everything that you would expect, softball, basketball, playgrounds, volleyball, bocce, BBQ facilities, swimming, water play……….there’s even a park for your dog!
Pleasant Hill students are served by the Contra Costa County Office of Education School District. Included are six elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. Diablo Valley College and John F. Kennedy University provide opportunity for higher education.
